Oven-Barbecued Short Ribs
Cooked with a unique process that locks in flavour and leaves more meat on the bones, these flanken-cut beef short ribs are ready to heat and serve in just one hour. Tender and saucy, it’s generously based with PC’s Smokin Stampede Barbecue Sauce.
What are flanken-cut short ribs?
Short ribs cut thinly across the rib bones are known as flanken. Each piece contains 3-4 pieces of bone between the areas of the meat. Flanken ribs can vary in thickness from 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch thick. This recipe uses 1/2-inch cut flanken ribs.
Before coming across PC’s Smokin Stampede Barbecue Sauce, I used to buy other BBQ sauce brands and combine them with red wine, brown sugar, and my favourite spices. It was a lot of unnecessary work every time I wanted to add barbecue sauce to my meals. I just wanted to find the right brand that has all the flavours I love in one product.
Then I finally came across President’s Choice barbecue sauce and that was it for me. This is the only BBQ sauce I use, period! The chipotle peppers, rich blend of spices, mixed with a splash of beer, and a drop of bourbon add so much smoky, sweet, and savoury flavour that makes anything cooked on the grill or in the oven taste amazing. The sauce is also thick and very fragrant, so you don’t need much unless you’re a BBQ sauce lover like myself! This is a wonderful PC product that you should definitely try. I 100% recommend this brand! Let’s jump right to the recipe. All you need is a few spices you most likely already have in your cupboard, some short ribs, and BBQ sauce.
What to serve with BBQ beef short ribs:
- Sautéed Garlic Parmesan Green Beans
- Cauliflower Alfredo Pasta
- Mashed potatoes
- Grilled asparagus
- Quinoa or couscous
Oven-Barbecued Short Ribs
- Roasting pan
- 5 lbs flanken-cut beef short ribs (cut across the bones)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp chilli pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp Pikapeppa sauce optional
- 1/2 tsp seasoning salt
- 3 garlic cloves crushed and minced
- 1/4 cup PC Smokin' Stampede Beer & Chipotle BBQ Sauce
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Season short ribs and gently massage seasoning blend
- Bake for 30 minutes covered
- Remove cover. Brush generously with BBQ sauce and bake for an additional 20 minutes
- Apply more BBQ sauce if desired
- Serve and enjoy!
